Africa RiskView Bulletins
The Africa RiskView (ARV) Bulletin is a regular publication of the ARC Agency. It provides information about current rainfall and drought index developments, as detected by ARV, and their potential impact on vulnerable populations for all of the countries in a given risk pool. It also provides updates on estimated response costs to assist potentially affected people, which are the underlying basis of the insurance policies for countries participating in the ARC insurance pool.

Africa RiskView Country Reports
ARC publishes country reports – Africa RiskView Special Reports or End of Season Reports – that discuss Africa RiskView’s estimates of rainfall, drought and population affected, comparing them to information from the ground and from external sources. These reports provide the basis of a validation exercise of Africa RiskView, which is conducted in each country at the end of an insured season. This exercise aims at reviewing the performance of the model and ensuring that the country’s drought risk is accurately reproduced by Africa RiskView for drought monitoring and insurance coverage.

Contingency Planning
Contingency planning is one of the pillars of ARC’s disaster risk management model. To maximize the effectiveness of early funding when weather-related disasters occur, ARC Agency assists governments to develop national plans for to use fund in case of a payout to ensure that financing flows quickly to the most critical areas and scales up social safety nets to protect the country’s most vulnerable populations.
In order to qualify for an ARC Ltd insurance policy, each country must create Operations Plan – a contingency plan that targets funding to in case of a payout – that passes the scrutiny of the ARC Agency Governing Board‘s Peer Review Mechanism.
