We are pleased to announce that today, 1 March 2022, the Government of Madagascar received an insurance pay-out of USD $10.7 million from ARC Ltd, an affiliate of the ARC Group, following the damage and destruction caused by Tropical Cyclone BATSIRAI. The cyclone, which formed in the Indian Ocean on 21 January 2022 and intensified as it progressed, led to loss of lives and livelihoods, displaced many, and left a trail of destruction in its path.

The WAHO/ARC partnership agreement, signed today, establishes a collaborative framework to assist ECOWAS Member States better plan, prepare and respond to the most impactful disease outbreaks of epidemic potential in the region, and will strengthen the region's response capacity.

Johannesburg- This week, the ARC Group Board Members and ARC Management team convened in Johannesburg for the organisation’s first-ever Board retreat on 23 February 2022, and the first Board meeting of the year on 24 February 2022. 

HARARE, Zimbabwe, January 11, 2022 -/African Media Agency (AMA)/- A global network of humanitarian agencies has today announced the purchase of an innovative insurance policy in partnership with African Risk Capacity (ARC) and the Government of Zimbabwe. The policy is to protect more than 800,000 people in Zimbabwe from drought risk during the 2021/2022 agricultural season.

The meeting in Nouakchott with Mr Anthony Kwaku Ohemeng-Boamah, UN Resident Coordinator, and Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Mauritania reinforces our strategic partnership with the UN System while anchoring ourselves as a specialised agency of the African Union.

Productive meeting today in Nouakchott, Mauritania, with H.E. Mrs. Fatimettou Mahfoudh Khattry, Minister, Food Security Commissioner and Supervisor of the ARC Programme, as we kick-start our first official visit in the country.

We proudly welcomed Dr. Mothae Anthony Maruping, the new Chairperson of the ARC Group Board, to our offices in Johannesburg, South Africa. Dr Maruping, who replaced Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, renewed his firm commitment to the ARC mandate and mission, and to supporting our advocacy efforts to further build a strong Disaster Risk Management and Financing culture across Africa. 

The visit was also a great opportunity to discuss with the Chairperson about our progress to date and ambition and seek his guidance and council.
