The meeting in Nouakchott with Mr Anthony Kwaku Ohemeng-Boamah, UN Resident Coordinator, and Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Mauritania reinforces our strategic partnership with the UN System while anchoring ourselves as a specialised agency of the African Union.

We provided an update on the ARC Programme implementation in the country as well as the ARC’s strategic objectives and sought guidance on how to better direct discussions with the Mauritanian government. We also discussed on how best to join forces towards an increased collaboration in resource mobilisation, advocacy, storytelling, social safety nets, outbreaks and epidemics, and mainstreaming gender in Disaster Risk Management and Financing.
