ARC Group, UN Women MoU

On 16 September 2021, at the WCA regional office of UN Women in Dakar/Senegal, the African Risk Capacity (ARC) and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advocate for gender equality for vulnerable women and men and ensure gender transformative and sustainable Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and Financing Framework.

Under the MoU, signed by the Heads of both institutions, the Parties will jointly engage in High-level advocacy, communication, and awareness-building to facilitate stronger political engagement between ARC Agency and the African countries, especially in the Sahel region; facilitate dialogue and exchange between ARC Agency and key Disaster Risk Reduction actors in Africa and advocate for the importance of integrating gender in Disaster Risk Management and resilience, and Financing in the region.
