This is a side event of the NGO Forum for the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66), 2022

Some 274 million people face crises in 2022 and need humanitarian assistance. Women in low-income countries suffer disproportionately. It doesn't have to be that way.

Pre-arranged finance to fund disaster response and avoid crises is on the agenda of governments, international financial institutions, humanitarian organisations and NGOs.

Women's needs and priorities must inform this new finance frontier if these instruments are to fulfil their potential and work for everyone.

Join the Centre for Disaster Protection, InsuResilience Centre of Excellence for Gender-smart Solutions, ODI and partners to explore why pre-agreed disaster finance should be on the agenda for women’s advocates everywhere.

Experts from the Asia-Pacific, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean will unpack how disaster risk finance can work in gender-responsive, socially-inclusive ways, and how we can work together on this agenda.

This event will be bilingual with simultaneous translation in English and Spanish.
