Participation of women, particularly women’s roles, and leadership during disaster recovery is neglected most of the time; and for this reason, recovery is not sustainable.  What can be done at policy and lower levels so that women’s participation and leadership can be considered, making recovery more gender inclusive and more sustainable? How can we build women’s existing skills, capacities and leadership in times of disasters and beyond to transform women’s status in society?
